George Oliver III has dedicated his life to serving his community and country. As the first African American Commissioner elected and re-elected to the City of Ocoee, George has become a trailblazer and a trusted advocate for the residents of District 4. With over 20 years as a resident of Ocoee, George combines his deep-rooted connection to the community with a vision for its brighter future.

 

A Foundation of Service and Leadership

Born in Tarpon Springs, Florida, and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, George has always been guided by principles of service, integrity, and determination. As a proud Navy veteran, he served his country with honor, learning the value of discipline, teamwork, and resilience. After his military service, George pursued higher education, earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.

These experiences laid the foundation for George’s career as a successful businessman and community leader, where he has consistently focused on creating opportunities, fostering trust, and driving meaningful change.

 

A Vision for Ocoee’s Future

George Oliver III believes that Ocoee’s best days are ahead. His focus for the future includes:

A Legacy of Achievements

During his tenure as Commissioner, George Oliver III has delivered tangible results for Ocoee residents, including:

  • Investing in Youth: Expanded summer employment programs and established the Ocoee Youth Council to cultivate the next generation of leaders.
  • Improving Infrastructure: Secured a $9 million deal for the Clarke Road Extension Project and implemented critical traffic safety improvements.
  • Championing Transparency: Called for an operational audit to ensure public financial accountability.
  • Honoring History: Fought for directional signage to the African American Hallowed Ground Cemetery and initiated a proclamation remembering the victims of the 1920 Ocoee Massacre.

George’s commitment to community well-being is evident in every initiative he leads. His ability to tackle complex challenges, manage projects effectively, and collaborate with diverse groups has earned him the respect of residents and peers alike.

 

A Family Man and Advocate

George is most proud of his role as a loving husband to Deborah and a dedicated father to his six children: Kerrick, Karte, George, Kameron, Christian, and Isaac. His family values and deep compassion fuel his drive to create a community where every resident has the opportunity to thrive.
